rusty little blog

well well well. here we are again. Seems like every few years I get the urge to start writing on my blog, and this time it's because my sister has been gathering photos for a family slideshow for our reunion this year. And as I looked back through the ol' blog, I got so sad that I haven't kept up with it. So many little memories I forgot all about. And soooo many pictures. So now that I have all 3 kids in school, I'm going to try and write a few times within the next decade.

As of August 1st, we now live in the great state of Idaho. Do we love it? YES! do we miss Utah like crazy?  YES! we spent most of our marriage there, and raised our kids there for almost 10 years. Left behind our favorite trails, friends, restaurants, and the ease of heading to S. Utah and California.
But now we enjoy a smaller town with a slower pace. Which we really do like a lot. just need a Zupas and a Chipotle close by. And maybe a pollo loco. :)
Since moving here we celebrated our 14 year anniversary on the very day we moved in. sent the girls back to school in a new city, new state, and to Jr. High/Middle school/Elementary. Went to a fun back to school event at Porter Park and fell in love with the small community pride they have here. We have been to   Jackson 6 times, Star Valley a handful of times, island park for snowmobiling and again for a girls weekend with my amazing high school friends where we also floated the river in the most beautiful spot ever, went to cave falls, mesa falls, big springs (where we had 2 big moose walk past us on the trail to get to the pond0. Went to lagoon several times and experienced fright mares. Stori and Syvlie went on the sky coaster and I was so nervous for them. Syvlie also did the catapult!! we moved dans mom from Washington to Rigby.  Stori learned to mow our yard. we've celebrated Sylvie, Dan, and Georgia's bdays so far. while dan was backpacking, us girls went to the homecoming parade and football game for Madison, and got to watch Sylvie and Georgia perform their cheer routine, oh yeah-we live in Rexburg now-Sylvie got asked by 2 different boys if she would wear their jerseys to the homecoming game (she said no because she didn't know them very well haha. glad she has standards already). We toured BYUI with the girls and showed them where we first met. we've had friends from Utah visit several times and it was so sad whenever they left. we went trick or treating in our neighborhood which seems like it came straight from the 1950's because so many kids and families were flooding the streets. family halloween carnival in Clarkston (Mr. and Mrs. Fox, gnome, football player, and scarecrow). we hiked to the flag in N. Ogden with our friends because it's tradition. Sylvie started volleyball and we realized how far behind you can be when you start in 5th grade instead of age 5 (although she kept up with the girls on her team really well).  Stori and Georgia started dance with the cutest teacher to ever exist:  tap, ballet, and gymnastics. I started redoing my mid-century hutch thinking that it would be a simple job... 6 months later and its still sitting in my garage. we've discovered a good running and walking path, and in the month of December (1st-24th) we ran 90 miles to do a trek to Bethlehem. we attended the cutest tree lighting ceremony and tour of Rexburg Christmas lights on a trolley.  Thanksgiving and Christmas in Lewisville/Rigby, attended stori and sylvie's choir concerts, dan and I hiked (attempted snowshoeing, but it's been a dry year) to lower palisades together and the next day got sick for the next 3 weeks-it was brutal!!! We've logged hundreds of hours at our clubhouse pool that is so big and has a great hot tub. we've walked around the greenbelt a few times (and one time where we recreated our engagement day), went to draper for a baby blessing and got a hotel that was sooo much fun! (we haven't done a hotel with our kids since they were really little and it wasn't very enjoyable-but this time it was amazing. one big sleepover with swimming, popcorn, and movies). We also hit up a family favorite while in Draper-Scheels. we watched the Superbowl here, and the halftime performance was all the girls and their friends putting on a concert for us. Stori is officially taller than granny faylene.  we did the easter egg hunt in granny faylenes yard again, and easter with her too. In January I started coaching club volleyball for Madison and these girls are the absolute cutest. I absolutely love assistant coaching!  oh, and dan works in Idaho Falls for a firm called Nalder and Blake. He says they are great guys, but I'm still holding out for a job at BYUI!! fingers crossed. My kids are in absolute dream ages and they have made such amazing friends here in our neighborhood... the one that feels like it's from the 1950's. none of them have phones and they all just play outside all day and come home for dinner. Or else they play here if it's too cold outside. I love it so much. Stori loves the YW and enjoys the bi-monthly temple trips they do together. Her leader picks them all up in either a limo or a big bus she has, then she takes them to Wendy's after for fries and frosty's.

Well that's a quick recap of the last 7 months. I wish I had the last several years blogged, but better to start now, than never start at all I suppose.
